Software Engineer
Join the Identity team to design and build mission critical C# services where good engineering, security, and real platform impact meet.
You know the feeling.
The days where your fingers can’t keep up with your brain. The flow state, where the world disappears. You solve a problem that’s been bugging you for two hours, the tests pass, and it just works.
It’s not magic. It’s just good engineering.
But let’s be honest. That feeling is a lot better when the problem you're solving actually carries weight.
And that is the reality in the Identity Team at e-conomic.
Right now, we’re looking for a Software Engineer to join the team.
We’re looking for a solid engineer who enjoys C# and is curious to learn why Identity is the backbone of modern software platforms.
The Role: The Backbone of the Platform
This is a mid-level role. That means we don’t expect you to already be an expert in Identity or Security. What is essential is curiosity.
We nerd out on authentication flows, authorization models and security protocols more often than we probably should, so you’ll need a genuine interest in diving into that world with us.
The Identity team builds the systems that support the entire lifecycle of a digital identity:
From account creation and login, to access control, auditing and deprovisioning.
If Identity goes down, everything goes down.
That’s the responsibility, and the impact, of the role.
You’re joining us at a special time. We’re currently building a new, ambitious authorization platform and laying the foundation for the AI ambitions of e-conomic. These are long-term initiatives where your work will shape how the platform works for years to come.
As AI becomes a bigger part of the product, Identity becomes even more critical. We’re not just thinking about human users anymore, but also service identities, delegated access and AI-driven interactions, all of which need to be handled securely and at scale.
What you’ll work on
As a mid-level Software Engineer in the Identity team, you’ll:
Build mission-critical backend services in C# that the entire platform depends on
Help design and implement a new authorization platform in an established, large-scale product
Participate in design and architecture discussions, challenging assumptions and shaping long-term solutions
Help own and operate identity systems in production, ensuring reliability through observability
Occasionally work on the frontend to surface Identity functionality to the end user
Work closely with security specialists to reason about threats, edge cases and failure modes
Why this role could be something for you
Well, if you’re the kind of engineer who cares about why a system exists – not just how it’s implemented – this role has a bit more depth than most.
Instead of just adding features to an isolated service, you’ll be working on foundational systems that other teams, products and future initiatives are built on.
You’ll help build a brand new authorization platform inside an already established product
Identity sits at the center of our AI ambitions, defining how users, agents and systems can interact securely in the future
You’ll gain hands-on experience across the CIAM lifecycle without being expected to already know it all
You’ll build systems for the long-term, while still creating value and impact on the short-term
Your Team
There’s two things that encapsulate this team perfectly. Our Slack threads frequently pass 50 replies and our standups almost always go beyond the 15 minutes.
That’s not because we argue a lot. Or because we can’t keep time. It’s because we’re always looking to have a little fun at work, whether that’s derailing a Slack thread or changing all of our Google Meet backgrounds to AI generated representations of our daily mood.
The team works with mission-critical systems, security systems, any downtime on our services can cause a complete outage. But still with this responsibility, we always have a light-hearted approach to work. We operate in a psychologically safe environment which means:
We collaborate: We prefer running design decisions through the team. No lone wolves here.
We joke: Dad jokes are the norm, silly memes are welcome and funny filters on video calls are prized.
We protect: We work in a domain where thoroughness is key, and we take care of each other while protecting the platform.
We communicate: We talk with each other and seek to understand each other.
Your leader will be Du, and he's Engineering Manager for both the Identity team and the Security team.
What success looks like after 6–12 months
You can design and implement features independently in our identity systems
You understand core Identity concepts and can reason about security trade-offs in code and design
You contribute meaningfully to design and architecture discussions
You’re a trusted collaborator within the team
Your experience
You are a developer with some years of experience, who takes pride in your craft. Other than that we hope your skills include:
Solid C# .NET skills: You know the framework and you know how to structure clean code.
System Design interest: You think about how components talk to each other, not just the single function you are writing.
Cloud familiarity: You know what it means to run code in the cloud (we use GCP).
The "Security Mindset": You might not be an expert yet, but you are curious. You want to understand how to break things so you can build them stronger.
Language: High proficiency in English is a must.
